ABOUT LORETTA YOUNG (1913 - August 2000)
American leading lady (from Salt Lake City) who's
real name was Gretchen Young. Loretta's career began
at while she was a young child.
At the time, this was considered a great upset,
since it was widely expected that Rosalind Russell
would receive the award for her performance in MOURNING
BECOMES ELECTRA.
She did receive another nomination for her 1949
performance in COME TO THE STABLE.
After her last film, IT HAPPENS EVERY THURSDAY in
1953, Loretta Young started her television show:
THE LORETTA YOUNG SHOW which ran for six years and
brought her several Emmys.
