Robin Williams (1952 - )
Robin Williams was born as Robin McLaurim Williams
in Chicago. He enrolled at Juilliard in New York
to study theater under the teacher, John Houseman,
who told him that he was wasting his talent at Juilliard,
and should go out on the road as a stand-up comic.
In 1978, after a guest appearance on "Happy
Days," Robin Williams was offered the part
of Mork, for a new series, "Mork and Mindy",
a role that brought him fame.
Many people know him as the Genie in the Disney
classic, "Aladin," a hysterical part that
added a lot of enjoyment to the feature cartoon.
Besides being incredibly gifted as a improvational
comic, Robin Williams has proven to be a talented
dramatic actor as well. "Mrs. Doubtfire, "
"Dead Poet Society," "The World According
to Garp," "Patch Adams," "Hook,"
and "Jumanji" offer the audience fine
examples of his ability to make us laugh and care
at the same time.
