Walter Brennan (1894 - 1974)
This famous character actor was born in Massachusetts.
Toured with a vaudeville troupe before World War
One.After serving in the war, Walter Brennan went
to Hollywood and found work as an extra in silent
films. By the late twenties Walter Brennan was playing
bit parts before graduating to supporting roles
in the 1930's. He is the only actor to win three
academy awards for best supporting actor. Later
in Walter Brennan's career he starred in three television
series,"The Real McCoys" (which ran six seasons),
"Tycoon," and "The Guns of Will Sonnett." He even
had four top 100 singles during the 60's.
Brennan was nominated again in 1941 for his performance
in SERGEANT
YORK.
