"Who's Afraid of
Virginia Woolf?" |
"He was marvelous as rehearsals. There
was the true theatrical instinct. You only had to indicate.
Scarcely even that." - John Gielgud on Burton.
He was once considered the heir to Olivier.
His talent was unsurpassable. Whenever he stepped on stage
everyone gave him the utmost respect. He was truly remarkable,
and his love for Elizabeth Taylor donned him recognition,
in several of their amazing films, like 1963's "Cleopatra"
and 1966's "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?"
However there was something about Burton
that cast even "La Liz" into the background. Movies,
like "My Cousin Rachel" (1952), 1957's "Bitter
Victory", "Look Back In Anger" (1959), and
1964's "Becket", truly show the prodigal charisma
and talent of the lovely Mr. Burton. (CD) |
