About Tim Robbins (1958 - )
Tim Robbins grew up in Greenwich Village, New York,
the son of actress Mary Robbins and musician Gil Robbins
of the Highwaymen, with his siblings David and Adele.
His acting talent emerged early. He was acting in
an avant-garde acting troupe, the Theater for the
New City by the age of 12. Tim Robbins graduated from
Stuyvesant High School in New York City. Tim then
went on to major in drama at UCLA and graduated with
honors in 1981.
In 1983, Tim started his acting career in TV shows,
like St. Elsewhere and films for TV. He started in
movies as well in 1984, in NO SMALL AFFAIR. The critics
first noticed Tim Robbins in the portrayal of civil
rights worker Harry in FIVE CORNERS. However, the
film that got Robbins noticed by the general public
was BULL DURHAM, playing the not too bright young
pitcher, Ebby Calvin 'Nuke' LaLoosh, a role that showcased
his ability to play naive and obtuse, which works
well with his handsome, baby-faced appeal.
During the BULL DURHAM filming Tim met Susan Sarandon,
and they've been together ever since. Tim Robbins
and Susan Sarandon have two sons, Miles and Jack.
Tim Robbins went on to make many wonderful films,
building his film repetoire and making a nice living
at the same time.
