Ruth Hussey was born on October 30, 1914 in Providence, Rhone
Island.
Ruth's first show-business job was as a fashion commentator
on a local radio station. The world-famous Powers agency in New York signed Ruth Hussey
as a model.
Hussey was noticed by MGM, which signed her and with whom
she made her film debut in 1937. She starred in MGM "B" movies, playing sophisticated ladies.
Then, moving to a top drawer project, Ruth Hussey played a supporting role in THE PHILADELPHIA STORY, [1940], for which she was nominated for an Academy Award.
In 1944, Ruth Hussey starred with Ray Milland in THE UNINVITED, a horror movie in which they play a brother and sister who get a cheap deal on a seaside house which they quickly learn is haunted. Hussey plays a the wife of Bob Hope in comedy, THE FACTS OF LIFE [1960], who is best friends with Lucille Ball, who along with her husband, all go on a vacation together, with romantically complicating results.
