About Rodney Dangerfield (1921 – 2004)
Rodney Dangerfield was born on November 22, 1921 in Babylon, Long Island, New York. His birth name was Jacob Cohen.

On October 5, 2004 he passed away in Los Angeles, California from complications from heart surgery.

At 15 years old Dangerfield began writing jokes, and at 20 he started performing.

Rodney Dangerfield was one of the few comedians who made Ed Sullivan laugh. The Ed Sullivan Show was Dangerfield's first big break. Over the years he had over 15 appearances on Sullivan's Toast Of The Town.

Dangerfield made his movie debut in 1971 with The Projectionist.

Many people remember Dangerfield as the obnoxious rich golfer Al Czervik from the 1980 movie comedy Caddyshack.

In his first dramatic role Rodney Dangerfield was darkly effective in the controversial 1994 Oliver Stone film Natural Born Killers. He played an abusive father to daughter Mallory (Juliette Lewis) in a sequence modeled after a sitcom that came complete with a laugh track.

Rodney was one of the first entertainers to use the internet to market himself. His website rodney.com went live in 1995.

There is a town in Texas named after him; when it came time to premiere Meet Wally Sparks in 1997, the film's producers went to Dangerfield, Texas.

Rodney Dangerfield owned a nightclub in Manhattan called Dangerfield's.

Near the end of his life he filmed an episode on the hit series Still Standing entitled Still Neighbors. It aired a week prior to his passing.

For his last big-screen role, Rodney Dangerfield played God in the movie Angels With Angles, which was released in 2005 after Dangerfield passed away. Angels With Angles was also Frank Gorshin's last movie.

There is a permanent display at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. of Rodney Dangerfield trademark attire, the white shirt and red tie.
