Richard Kiel was born on September 13, 1939 in Detroit, Michigan.

Sometimes Richard Kiel is credited as Richard Keil or Dick Kiel. However his birth name is Richard Dawson Kiel .

Richard George is Kiel's son, and appeared briefly in the 1977 film The Spy Who Loved Me. The young Richard George is the little boy on the beach pointing out the car that James Bond drives out of the water.

Richard usually played a villain or a monster, due to his height of 7' 2".

In 1996 Richard Kiel was in the Adam Sandler hit Happy Gilmore, though he was never actually seen walking in the film, due to an accident he suffered in 1992.

Kiel's most well-known role is that of "Jaws," the villainous giant in two James Bond movies – The Spy Who Loved Me (1977), and Moonraker (1979).

On September 10, 2014, three days short of his 75th birthday, Kiel died at St. Agnes Medical Center in Fresno, California, of a heart attack, possibly caused by coronary artery disease.
