Paul Lynde (1926 - 1982)

In Mount Vernon, Ohio on June 13, 1926, Paul Lynde was born. He was won of six children and the middle of four boys.  Paul Lynde's father was a police officer.

January 10, 1982, in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California, Paul Lynde dies of cardiac arrest due to extreme substance abuse. He drowned in his own swimming pool.

Paul Lynde's mother took him to see BEN HUR in 1926 which inspired him to be an actor. He graduated from Northwestern University and moved on the New York City, New York.

Being a stand up comedy at the Number One Fifth Avenue Nightclub was Paul Lynde's start in show business.

He was known for his two year run on television with THE PERRY COMO SHOW in 1948, the Broadway and film versions of BYE BYE BIRDIE in 1963. Paul Lynde also played Uncle Arthur in 1964 on BEWITCHED. He also well known for occupying the center square on THE HOLLYWOOD SQUARES in 1966.

Paul Lynde was one of Hollywood's best loved and funniest entertainers.
