Patrick Wayne Swayze was born on August 18th, 1952, in Houston, Texas. He died of pancreatic cancer after a valiant fight, on September 14th, 2009, in Los Angeles, California.
His mother was choreographer, Patsy Swayze, and she owned a dance school, where Patrick learned to dance.
Patrick continued his dance training at the Harkness Ballet School and Joffrey Ballet School.
Patrick's first dancing gig was for Walt Disney, dancing as the character of Prince Charming, in DISNEY ON PARADE.
Patrick Swayze started out acting in the Broadway
play, "Grease", playing the character, Danny Zuko.
In 1979, Patrick would make his film debut in SKATETOWN USA.
Swayze became well known after starring DIRTY
DANCING which earned him a Golden Globe nomination.
Then in 1990 Patrick Swayze got another nomination
in the blockbuster GHOST.
After enjoying a strong run of films during the 1990s', Patrick returned to his first love, Broadway, to dance and sing in CHICAGO, as Billy Flynn.
Even when he was being treated for his cancer, he went to work on a TV series, called THE BEAST.
Patrick married the love of his life, actress Lisa Niemi, on June 12th, 1975, and stayed married to her for the rest of his life. When Patrick passed on, his wife, Lisa published his memoir that they had written together.
