Kurtwood Smith was born on July 3, 1943 in New Lisbon, Wisconsin.

In 1984 Kurtwood Smith broke into films as a deadly CIA agent in FLASHPOINT. In the 1980s Kurtwood Smith was a series regular on THE RENEGADES (1983) and THE NEW ADVENTURES OF BEANS BAXTER (1987-88).

Playing the good guy, but covered in heavy makeup Kurtwood Smith played as the Federation President in STAR TREK VI: THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY (1991).

Kurtwood Smith is best know as Red on the popular TV Series THAT 70S SHOW as Reginald "Red" Forman. Dr. Sauce is Kurtwood Smith son, his stage name is Dr. Sauce, he hosted a radio show at Stanford University in the mid-to-late 1990s and played guitar in a band called The Vulcaneers. Kurtwood Smith has a natural knack for playing slimy villain, grumpy man and occationally you will see him in a nice guy role.

On the December 18, 2004 THE BIG SPIN TV show, Kurtwood Smith presented actress Barbara Bain with the California Lottery's "Hero in Education" Award.
