About Kristin Scott Thomas (1960 - )

Kristin Scott Thomas was born in Redruth, Cornwall, England on May 24, 1960.

As a child, Kristin Scott Thomas lived in Dorset, England. She is the eldest of five children.

Kristin Scott Thomas' father, a pilot, died flying for the British Royal Navy in 1964. Her stepfather, also a pilot died six years later in a flying accident.

In England, Kristin Scott Thomas was told by a school teacher, that she would never make it as an actress and there was no money to be made in the film industry field. That influenced her to move to France. At the age of nineteen,she moved to Paris to become an au pair.

In 1995, Kristin Scott Thomas was chosen by Empire Magazine as one of the 100 Sexiest Stars in film history. She was chosen by People Magazine as one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World in 1997.

In 2003, Kristin was appointed to the Queen's Birthday Honours List. In 2004, Kristin Scott Thomas was nominated for the Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Best Actress for her performance in THREE SISTERS.

In 1994, Krisitn Scott Thomas was cast as Fiona in the comedy drama FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL. The film's budget was so small, the Scottish wedding wasn't filmed in Scotland and the extras had to bring their own suits to the weddings. The film was nominated for two Oscars.

Kristin Scott Thomas was awarded the Highest Civilian Award, Legion d'Honneru in France in the January 2005 honors list.

Currently, Thomas lives in a 19th century country house in France. She resides there with her husband, Francois Oliviennes, a French Obstretrician and their three children, Hannah, Joseph and George.
