About Kasi Lemmons (1961 – )
Kasi Lemmons was born on February 24, 1961 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Beginning in 1979, Kasi Lemmons worked in television movies and series, such as Spenser: For Hire, The Cosby Show, Murder, She Wrote, Walker: Texas Ranger and As the World Turns.

Lemmons also worked an an ensemble player in movies, including Spike Lee's School Daze and Vampire's Kiss. In 1991, Kasi Lemmons played Ardelia Mapp in The Silence of the Lambs.

In 1997, Lemmons directed the lush film, Eve's Bayou, the story of a young woman uncovering family secrets in 1962 Louisiana. The movie starred Samuel L. Jackson as the roving paterfamilias of the Batiste family. It was Roger Ebert's pick for best film of the year.

Kasi Lemmons has since directed The Caveman's Valentine, with Samuel L. Jackson, as a mentally ill homeless man who chases down the murderer of a young man, while attempting to sort out his personal life. Kasi Lemons directed Talk to Me in 2007, the story of Petey Green, an ex-con who hosts a popular radio talk show and is a political activist in the 1960's.

Kasi Lemmons is married to actor Vondie Curtis-Hall, with whom she has two children.
