Tom Tripplehorn (Jeanne's father) was a guitarist with Gary Lewis and the Playboys. Tripplehorn has a younger brother who is a drummer/rock musician. He appeared briefly in Reality Bites as the drummer of Ethan Hawke's band, but was not credited.

Jeanne studied drama at Juilliard School of Drama at Lincoln Center in New York.
