Jack Albertson (1907 - 1981)
Jack Albertson was born on June 16, 1907 in Malden, Massachusetts.
On November 25, 1981 Jack Albertson passed away in Hollywood
Hills, California from colon cancer.
Jack Albertson is one of three actors to win
an Emmy, a Tony and an Oscar. A veteran of burlesque,
vaudville, and broadway, it is somewhat ironic that
this talented performer is probably most recognizable
to audiences for his role (for which he got the
Emmy) on the 1970's sitcom "Chico and the Man",
playing the role of 'the Man'.
Jack Albertson made his film debut in 1954 in the
picture Top Banana, recreating the same part
that he played in the broadway production of the
film. Albertson was most comfortable in comedic
roles, although he did dramatic parts also. Besides
winning the Oscar for his performance in the film,
The Subject was Roses, Albertson also won the Tony
for his performance in the Broadway production of
it.
