It has been reported that George Macready claims to be a descendant of the great 19th-century Shakespearean actor William Macready. George is the Grandfather of U.S. gymnast John Macready, and the Father of actor and producer Michael Macready.

In a 1946 movie George Macready played Ballin Mundson the casino owner and Rita Hayworth's husband in GILDA. This was a great movie for both Macready and Hayworth, one that fans will always remember.

As a result of a road accident, George Macready has a distinctive scar on his cheek, working for him in several of his films and it was covered up in others.

Playing the French general Paul Mireau in a terrific WWI film, George Macready has his own battalion in the PATHS OF GLORY.
