About Geena Davis (1957 - )

Geena Davis was born Virginia Elizabeth Davis in Wareham, Massachusetts.  Geena Davis has an IQ of 140 and is a member of MENSA.

Geena Davis majored in drama at Boston University. When Davis was 23, her work in a Victoria Secret's catalog caught the attention of producer Sydney Pollack, who subsequently cast her in TOOTSIE (1982).

With her second husband, Jeff Goldblum, she starred in a remake of the horror flick, THE FLY in 1986.  She played an intriguing role as a campy ghost in Tim Burton's BEETLEJUICE in 1988.  She played a quirky dog trainer and love interest for William Hurt in the 1988 film, THE ACCIDENTAL TOURIST.  She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal. 

Geena Davis was nominated for Best Actress for her role in the 1991 Ridley Scott movie, THELMA & LOUISE, the story of two gal pals on the lamb.  Davis plays a goofy Texas belle who, over the course of the film's events, doffs her controlling husband and her fluffy feminine passivity for the time of her life. 

Since then, Davis has created memorable female characters with a lot of backbone, as a baseball player in Penny Marshall's A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN in 1992, as a pirate in CUTTHROAT ISLAND in 1995, and a lethal secret agent in THE LONG KISS GOODNIGHT. 

Geena has been married four times, her second husband being actor Jeff Goldblum and her third husband was director Renny Harlin. Davis is now married to Dr. Reza Jarrahy and they have three children.
