Gary Busey was born on June 29, 1944 in Goose Creek, Texas.

Busey starred with Russell Wong in the unreleased 1997 pilot episode of HAWAII FIVE-O. This pilot episode was filmed in Hawaii, but was not released due to a decision from CBS-TV executives. Gary appeared in the music video and sang in the choir on the song VOICES THAT CARE.

In December of 1988 Gary Busey nearly died of head injuries in a motorcycle accident, he was not wearing a helmet.

Busey's movie career started with 1971's biker epic ANGELS HARD AS THEY COME. Once a protagonist, Busey has more recently found his juiciest opportunities in sinister supporting roles in LETHAL WEAPON (1987), PREDATOR 2 (1990), HIDER IN THE HOUSE (1991), and UNDER SIEGE (1992).

In 1978 Gary strapped on a guitar to play the title role (and actually perform his own songs) in THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY, for which he earned an Oscar nomination. Gary was the last man killed on the TV show GUNSMOKE.

The once-lanky Gary Busey worked as a drummer with Leon Russell, Kris Kristofferson, and Willie Nelson before turning to acting. Gary had a successful local band, The Rubber Band, in Stillwater, OK. Moved to Hollywood to pursue his music career. Gary Busey also has a band called Carp (Busey showed David Letterman an old LP of the band on Late Night with David Letterman)
