Eve Arden was born on April 30, 1909 in Mill Valley, California.
On November 12, 1990 Eve Arden passed away in Los Angeles,
California from cardiac arrest due to arteriosclerotic heart
disease.
Sometimes Eve Arden is credited as Eunice Quedens which is
her birth name.
Starting in 1948 Eve Arden took on the title role of Connie
Brooks, as the schoolteacher in a radio sitcom, called OUR
MISS BROOKS until 1952.
In 1952, OUR MISS BROOKS moved to TV and became a smash hit.
Eve Arden still had the title role and it ran for about four
years.
Eve Arden earned an Emmy for her role as Connie Brooks in
1953. Eve Arden was nominated for an Academy Award for her
role as Ida in MILDRED PIERCE.
Working with her husband, Eve Arden was in the film ANATOMY
OF A MURDER in 1959. Brooks West was Eve Arden's husband in
the movie he plays the local prosecutor going against defense
attorney James Stewart.
Who could forget Eve Arden as Principal McGee in the musical
hit GREASE in 1978. This movie was such a big hit, it did
have an all star cast the T-Birds were the cool guys including
John Travolta as Danny Zuko, Jeff Conaway played Kenickie,
Barry Pearl as Doody and Michael Tucci as Sonny. Then the
Pink Ladies included Olivia Newton-John as Sandy Olsson, Stockard
Channing was Betty Rizzo, Didi Conn as Frenchy and Kelly Ward
as Putzie.
It was to no surprise that a second GREASE movie was going
to be made GREASE 2 came out in 1982 Eve Arden came right
back as Principal McGee although for the most part it was
a new cast except for Didi Conn as Frenchy, the story line
was a bit different including the cast of Maxwell Caulfield,
Michelle Pfeiffer, Lorna Luft, Maureen Teefy, Alison Price,
Pamela Adlon, Adrian Zmed, Christopher McDonald and Leif Green.
Working opposite Groucho, Eve Arden was in AT THE CIRCUS
in 1939 as the acrobatic Pauline.
