Elijah Wood was born on January 28, 1981 in Cedar Rapids,
Iowa.

During the filming of THE YANK, Elijah Wood received an injury
under his eyebrow leaving a visible scar. The 1990 film AVALON
wsa Elijah Wood first major part. While filming THE FACULTY
in 1998 Elijah Wood heard about the upcoming roles for THE
LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY. Director George Huang, a personal
friend of Wood's, filmed his audition tape for the Lord of
the Rings Trilogy. He shot the scene from different angles
which were cut together for the video. They sent the video
off to New Zealand for director Peter Jackson and a few months
later, he got the part.
The biggest project thus for for Elijah Wood is THE LORD
OF THE RINGS TRILOGY, based on the books by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Ian Holm and Elijah Wood have several things incommon. They
are sharing the role of Frodo, he and Holm have also both
appeared in films about parasitic aliens: Holm was in ALIEN,
and Wood was in THE FALCULTY, they have also both played roles
in which they murder prostitutes: Holm played Jack the Ripper
in FROM HELL, and Wood played the silent Kevin in SIN CITY.
All nine LORD OF THE RINGS Fellowship members got the same
tattoo: the number nine written in Elvish. Elijah's is just
below his waist. The official LORD OF THE RINGS fanclub has
Elijah Wood as the first member.
Elijah was in three movies that never made it into wide
release: THE BUMBLEBEE FLIES ANYWAY (1999) (released on satellite
TV), BLACK AND WHITE (1999) (released on home video), and
CHAIN OF FOOLS (2000).
