Dolly Parton was born on January 19, 1946 in Sevierville, Tennessee.

Dolly Parton's duet with Kenny Rogers, Islands in the Stream, was a huge hit, ranked as the number one duet of all time on CMT's 100 greatest country duets.

On the SESAME STREET TV series, a character inspired by Dolly Parton was introduced. The furry addition had blue skin and blonde hair and went by the name of Polly Darton.

Parton is a hugely talented singer and actress.

In addition to singing and acting, Dolly Parton took on co-production and writing duties for WILD TEXAS WIND, in addition to playing the role of Thiola Big T Rayfield, in this made for TV movie.

A talk show favorite, Dolly Parton has made the rounds on several TV talk shows, including THE ROSIE O'DONNELL SHOW, THE TONIGHT SHOW WITH JAY LENO, LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN and THE TONY DANZA SHOW.

In addition to being universally recognized for her voice and her ample bosom, Dolly has trademarked a logo graced with butterflies. In an interview she said they represent beauty and freedom.

In addition to all the other hats she wears, Dolly Parton is a highly successful entrepreneur, being the owner of a namesake theme park, Dollywood, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
