Dana Elcar was born on October 10, 1927 in Ferndale, Michigan.
On June 6, 2005 Dana Elcar passed away in Ventura, California
with complications from pneumonia.
In 1991 Dana Elcar went blind due to Glaucoma c. and required
special computer equipment to read printed text for the rest
of his life.
Dana Elcar was on the MACGYVER television series from (1986-1992)
playing Peter Thornton. When Elcar started to go blind, his
character Peter Thornton on MACGYVER was also written with
the same affliction. His blindness was also written into his
guest appearance on LAW AND ORDER, resulting from Diabetic
Retinopathy.
In the mid 1970s Dana Elcar Founded L.A. Actors' Theater
and in 1987 he founded the Santa Paula Theater Center.
