Charles Grodin made his Broadway debut in 1962 and debuted on film
two years later in SEX AND THE SINGLE GIRL (1964). He was in the process of being cast as Benjamin, the lead in Mike Nichols sleeper hit, THE GRADUATE, but the deal went south over salary. He subsequently played the small part of Arfy Aardvark in Nichol's 1970 CATCH 22.
In 1972 THE HEARTBREAK KID was Charles Grodin's breakthrough
role.
Grodin plays Dr. C.C. Hill, a physician on the up an up who is replaced by a doctor in cahoots with the coven of witches, who nurture ROSEMARY'S BABY, a Roman Polanski thriller with Mia Farrow as the hoodwinked mother, John Cassavettes as her insider husband, Ruth Gordon, as the upstairs neighbor and witche, and Ralph Bellamy as the bad obstetrician.
In the 1988 film: MIDNIGHT RUN, Charles Grodin plays a convicted ex-Mafia accountant. He is on the run after jumping bail. Robert De Niro as the bounty hunter sent to locate and bring in the accountant.
In the 1992 and 1993 dog comedies, BEETHOVEN and BEETHOVEN'S 2ND, Charles Groden plays the paterfamilias. He has a grudging acceptance of the family St. Bernard. Beethoven pups comes only after much family wheedling and plot machinations.
