About Charles Dance (1946 - )

Charles Dance was born October 10, 1946 in Redditch, Worcestershire, England.

An extremely gifted man, Charles Dance is an actor, director, writer and a producer of films. Dance does not like labels as he feels it dictates his parts. Charles says he is neither suave nor debonair.

Charles Dance married Joanna in 1970 but they were divorced in 2004. They had two children, Oliver and Rebecca.

In 1981, Charles Dance played the part of Claus in the James Bond thriller, FOR YOUR EYES ONLY.

Charles Dance played the role of Lord Raymond Stockbridge in GOSFORD PARK IN 2001. The film being both a mystery and comedy showed the lives of upstairs guests and downstairs servants at a party in England.

Cast as the part of John Bosland in the mystery thriller,SWIMMING POOL, in 2003. The film was considered the summer of 2003's sexiest mystery.

In 2004, Charles Dance directed and wrote the film LADIES IN LAVENDER. The film was about two sisters who saved a stranger who stole their hearts.

In 2005, Charles Dance was in fifteen episodes of BLEAK HOUSE.  Charles played the part of Mr. Tulkinghorn in the drama.

Charles Dance was awarded the Officer of the Order of the British Empire for his services in drama in the 2006 Queen's Birthday Honours List.
