About Bob Hoskins (1942 – 2014)

Bob Hoskins was born on October 26, 1942, in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England. He passed away on April 29, 2014, from pneumonia in London. He was 71.

In October 1977, Bob Hoskins was ranked #97 in Empire (UK) magazine's "The Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time" list.

The Long Good Friday was Bob Hoskins' major movie debut. In the 1970s, Bob Hoskins expanded to television with roles in television series such as Villains and Thick As Thieves. The television mini-series Pennies From Heaven was a big break for Bob Hoskins in 1978.

Bob Hoskins' role in Mona Lisa; (1986), won him an Oscar nomination as well as a BAFTA award.

Hoskins once worked in a circus as a fire eater. His film, The Raggedy Rawne,y was based on stories his gypsy grandmother used to tell him.

Hoskins was awarded the 1982 Critics' Circle Theatre Awards; (Drama Theatre Award), for Best Actor of 1981, for his performance in Guys And Dolls, and True West.

Bob is probably best known for his role as the detective Eddie Valiant, in Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988).
