Barbara Harris was born on July 25, 1935 in Evanston, Illinois.
Generally, Barbara Harris, along with Elaine May, are acknowledged
as the pioneering women in the field of improvisational theatre.
Barbara Harris starred in "The Compass Players";
the first ongoing improvisational theatre troupe in America
which was directed by her then-husband, Paul Sills.
Having made several TV appearances, Barbara Harris was in episodes
of "Alfred Hithcock" and "The Middle Ages".
In August 2005 Barbara Harris was starring in a new audio
drama "Anne Manx on Amazonia", for the Radio Repertory
Company of America. The show was set to air on XM Satellite
Radio in the fall of 2005.
In 1962, Harris won a Tony for Best Supporting Actress (Musical)
for "From the Second City"and, in 1966, as Best
Actress (Musical) for "On a Clear Day When You Can See
Forever". The following year Harris would take home another
Best Actress Tony (Musical) for her performance in the musical,
"The Apple Tree".
