Ann-Margaret "Slugger" Olsson was born on April
28, 1941 in Valsjobyn, Jamtlands Lan, Sweden.
While Ann-Margaret was performing as a cabaret singer she
was discovered by the legendary George Burns. Thereafter Ann-Margaret
was usually cast as the character type of the singing seductress.
In the early 1970s Ann-Margaret fell 22 feet from a stage
in Lake Tahoe during a concert in 1972 that nearly ended her
Hollywood career. But Ann-Margret refused to be daunted by
the event and fought her way into a role that cast her as
the sexy "older woman".
Ann-Margaret was most successful on the small screen appearing
in TV movies such as "Who will Love My Children?"
(1982) and 1984's "A Streetcar Named Desire".
In 1995 Ann-Margaret was chosen by Empire magazine as one
of the "100 Sexiest Stars in Film History" (#10).
Ann-Margaret developed a special bond with 'The King', Mr.
Elvis Presley himself after co-starring in the 1964 film "Viva
Las Vegas".
In the 2005 TV Mini film Ann-Margaret is portrayed by Rose
McGowan in the documentary-esque film "Elvis"..
For an episode of "The Flintstones" Ann-Margaret
had an animated guest appearance as Ann-Margrock.
Ann Margaret was nominated twice for an Academy Award; first
for her performance in 1971's "Carnal Knowledge"
and for her performance in 1975's "Tommy".
Ann-Margaret married husband Roger Smith in 1967.
