Julie Andrews was an immensely
likable, if sometimes overly sweet, performer. Having played
the role of Eliza Doolittle on Broadway in "My Fair Lady",
she was shocked and disappointed when Audrey Hepburn got the
role in the film.
Notable movies include: MARY
POPPINS for which she won the Best
Actress Award, 10,
VICTOR/VICTORIA, and THE
PRINCESS DIARIES. Julie's defining role was as Maria Von
Trapp in THE
SOUND OF MUSIC.
Andrews has been married for years,
to film director Blake Edwards (THE PINK PANTHER). Despite some
effort, Julie Andrews was never convincingly naughty on camera,
though on one occasion she did bare her
breasts briefly, in her husband's film "S.O.B.",
which was a satirical jab at Hollywood money people and studios.
Julie Andrews' newest credits
include THE PRINCESS DIARIES 2-Royal Engagement. More
